FIVE REALMS PARK
This sustainable park masterplan weaves ecological resilience with community-focused design, structured through a thoughtfully zoned landscape framework. A dense tree canopy and native planting palette establish biodiversity corridors, while dedicated vegetable stalls foster urban agriculture and strengthen local food systems. Pedestrian-only pathways, complemented by strategically positioned seating nodes, encourage low-impact recreation and foster social interaction within the green fabric.
The playground precinct is designed with natural and recycled materials, supported by shade-providing trees to create an eco-sensitive, child-safe environment. Parking areas are compactly planned with permeable paving, reducing land consumption while enabling effective stormwater percolation. Rain gardens and bioswales are integrated across the site to naturally filter runoff, reduce irrigation demand, and recharge groundwater. Interpretive and educational signage throughout the park transforms the site into a living laboratory of sustainable practices, promoting environmental awareness among visitors.
The spatial narrative is also enriched by a thematic zoning inspired by classical Tamil literature—Kurinji, Mullai, Marudham, Neithal, and Palai—each landscape zone reflecting the distinct ecological character described in Sangam texts. At the far end, a dense forest zone has been envisioned as a sanctuary, drawing birds from multiple habitats and enhancing the park’s role as an urban biodiversity reserve.
